Dear friends of medical physics,
After the annual DGMP meeting in 2020 could only take place virtually, we were optimistic to welcome you all in Vienna this year. However, as the recent situation is still challenging and in order to cope with the current uncertainty for everyone involved, we decided to hold the Dreiländertagung 2021 virtually, too. Even though the pandemic does not allow us to get together in Vienna, we want to pursue our scientific and personal exchange. After 2017, this year's conference will again take place as a Joint Conference of the ÖGMP, DGMP & SGSMP, this time under the scientific governance of the ÖGMP. Therefore, we are more than happy to welcome you to our virtual Joint Meeting from 19–22 September 2021.
Exciting days with various highlights are ahead of us. In each branch of medical physics we are experiencing a digital evolution, which we aim to reflect in our programme. Thus, we are especially welcoming abstract submissions on automation, artificial intelligence and how to implement these technologies in a clinical setting. In our well-established tradition, other abstract topics aim to embrace the full spectrum of medical physics, ranging from ionising and non-ionising radiation for imaging and therapy to radiation protection and quality assurance.
Based on the very positive response and feedback of last year’s meeting, we will put emphasis on a larger range of practical courses and integrated several hands-on workshops as well as on refresher courses as far as possible. Scientific meetings, poster sessions and plenary lectures are, as usual, accompanied by the Forum Young Medicine Physics, which includes a multifaceted programme of its own.
We are very much looking forward to meeting you virtually at this year’s Dreiländertagung!
Dietmar Georg and Wolfgang Birkfellner
